Re: Curie 2012!

Not too happy about the "cooperatition" from the opposing alliance in the final match, but it's the finals and strategy is more important than ever during the Championships I suppose.

The last few matches are going to be very exciting. The race for the #1 spot is so close.

Here is a quick highlight reel of our robot we out together last night. http://vimeo.com/41184828

Good luck to all the Curie Teams today.

Tough loss. Looked like an inch or two positioning in autonomous made the difference.

Re: Curie 2012!

And with Daisy losing their timeout coupon and getting grip tape on their shooter shaft, the Ace of Spades proves that you can overwhelm a triple balance without even balancing.

Re: Curie 2012!

I swear I think my heart popped out of my chest a couple of times during my team's last 2 matches before we were eliminated.

We we were never designed to do triple-balance yet when they got so close...auugh. Oh well. We had a fantastic year and I'm happy to see 987 move on to Einstein. An amazing showing. I can't believe they managed to out-score a very good alliance headed by Miss Daisy as well as that alliance triple-balancing. insane.

Re: Curie 2012!

Thanks to 254 and 78 for being fantastic partners! It was great to finally get to work with you, and we definitely want to do it again. I am very sorry that we let you down; our shooter started having traction issues as soon as elims started (due to wear and/or the bizarre new balls that they introduced for elims that did not feel like ANY ball we had fired all season), and by the finals we were frantically trying to re-apply grip tape so our accuracy would get back to normal. But we were rushed, and couldn't find the timeout ticket in time, so the repair was not effective. The world saw what we could do when we were all clicking (128 points, foul-free), which makes it sting that much worse...

Congrats to 233, 987, and 207 for winning the division and being World Finalists! 987, you guys were the definition of consistency. 233, you really turned up your game in the elims! 207, you played incredible defense. It is a damned shame what happened on Einstein, and I know that I'll forever be wondering what could have been.

We had the same exact problem. The last day of competition they put new balls in the field. Which two of our matches we got in our rollers jamming almost blowing out our motor. We went to ask them about it, and they said it was part of the game.

Re: Curie 2012!

Congrats to teams 987, 207, and 233 for being division champs and making it all the way into the finals match on Einstein.

Thanks to team 3528 and 1477 for being awesome alliance partners. Quarter-finals were crazy intense with our 60-62 loss and 72-71 and 46-45 wins, and semi's were even more ridiculous with 207's kamakazi style defense over the co-op bridge!

Does anyone know where I can find match videos for both quals and (especially) elims? Thanks!

Re: Curie 2012!

Does anybody have video of 207 jumping off of the elevated end of a bridge in what I believe was SF 2 or Finals on Curie? They had pulled down the bridge on their side and started to drive up the bridge while an opposing robot managed to wedge itself under the other side of the bridge. This held the bridge up while 207 drove straight of the end of the elevated bridge at a pretty high speed. They then dropped about two feet to the floor and went on driving without an issue.

Just one of the more awesome moments I had witnessed this FIRST season. Hopefully someone has video from the match.

On another note, congrats to all the Curie teams and those that represented us on Einstein. It was an interesting division to play in. With an emphasis on triple balancing and an overwhelming amount of the best teams in our division being long, it was neat to see how alliance selections and eliminations played out.

To 987, sorry about roughing up your pickup in QF-3. We were glad to see that it was repaired and functional in your next match.
