Re: Music at the Regionals

A song I have heard a lot at FIRST events, though, is "Jump On It", but not this year... what happened? It's one of the best "time-out songs", IMO... |

Re: Music at the Regionals
So this is probably incredibly obscure, but does anyone know the name of the song that is played at the very end of closing ceremonies? It's the song that plays right after the emcee says goodbye, has a big cymbal/drum start, then goes on for about 2-3 minutes?

Re: Music at the Regionals
At Archimedes, the music was a little disappointing. There wasn't any music playing in the background during matches, which felt very odd after going to 3 regionals and listening to music during matches. There were also a few songs that I questioned why they were put in there, like "Welcome to the Machine". Sure, it says machine and it is a great song, but it's kind of the opposite of a "pump-up" song that is the norm. It was a little weird hearing that song, a few of my team members commented on how it was depressing to listen to.
I particularly like a few songs that are perfect for eliminations, but since they are just music without lyrics, I have no idea what they are. |

Re: Music at the Regionals
There's only one thing I have to say about the music at the regionals I went to (Actually it was just Finger Lakes, and DC last year.)
Too. Much. Party in the USA........ Cleveland also played the same song during every match, which was a bit annoying. |

Re: Music at the Regionals
I really enjoy it when the DJ plays "Hot Hot Hot" as 67 goes crazy in 1v3 matches, but that might just be me.
The most irritating thing was certainly the repetition of songs. Many times, I could look around the venue and see people's disgusting reactions to the 7th or 8th time we had to listen to "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. I understand that the song is popular, but after the second or third time, it just gets plain ridiculous. I remember reading on here that someone thought it would be a good idea to play student's original works, which I think is the best solution to a limited amout of content. Re: Music at the Regionals
Maybe start paying DSK to make more robotics songs. Also make more remixes like the ones shown at championships, with some robotics twists to them.
Music is a successful way to assimilate outsiders into our culture. |

Re: Music at the Regionals
No, not remixes. Well, unless it's a good remix. If it's a remix of Bohemian Rhapsody or Don't Stop Believing... That's just... no...

Re: Music at the Regionals
Waterloo had the best music by far! You could tweet suggestions to the DJ and he actually played mine! It was so cool!

Re: Music at the Regionals
I wonder if "Rock Lobster" by the B-52's is on FIRST's play list this year, because I heard it on 2 different regional webcasts and I can't believe that different DJ's would pick such an obscure song.
I heard a song on ESPN's Mike and Mike radio show when they were about to talk about the NFL draft that I thought would be great to play right before alliance selection (although I'm not that keen on the song) - Take a Chance on Me by ABBA. |

Re: Music at the Regionals
IMO there are enough bad remixes floating around FIRST events already. Seriously, not everything has to sound like the latest "trend"; most of the "remixed" songs were way better to begin with...
