Re: the holy balance

There was a time in KC where one robot fell on top of another little one (not on the bridge, just on the field), and a third robot (was it the other alliance? It may have been..) had to come over and help the little one on bottom push the big one up.

Here's another angle of the holy balance, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aULRgQh0l5Y. 2709's GoPro Hero camera was lucky enough to be pointed at 2175 the entire time.

Re: the holy balance

This was our most exciting balance with 714: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw9xUi89RQQ#t=1m30s

After 2554 flipped off our bridge, destroying their end effector, I quickly drove around to the coop bridge in a desperation attempt to get some worth out of the match, which we were losing due to the failed double balance attempt.

Re: the holy balance

Our holy balance was on match 48 at the Oregon Regional. Our alliance partner was trying to put down the bridge, but couldn't because there was a ball stuck under it. It took some convincing to get them to stop trying. We then drove on to the bridge, got stopped by the FMS end match signal, and then the bridge balanced.

The camera angle is horrible, but you get the jist of it

This is what I love about the co-op bridge. That balance was dramatic.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Woah.

I mean, talk about lucky. I've never seen a bridge move back and fourth that much. Are you sure that bridge was calibrated correctly?

I remember at FLR, we were going over the barrier when the robot lost the signal and actually stopped just in time to balance on the barrier itself.

We attributed it to the fact that both robots were so far away from the center of the bridge and basically "stuck" in place. As long as the weight is distributed correctly, you should in theory be able to balance despite any wobbling of the bridge.
