As a team who always seems to ship a robot weighing 119.9 lbs I wouldn't survive the build season without a dead-on accurate hanging scale. We used to have a cheap platform scale but found the weight varied too much as we moved the robot around on the platform. You'll see this at the competitions as well. With a hanging scale you never have to worry.
We have an older LED version of this scale which I got new on ebay for $250 five years ago. Just get one with 250lb capacity by .05 resolution. You won't regret it.
