PBASIC 2.5 Questions

First off, 2.5 is going to be a BETA release. I have composed a poem to relate my experience with beta programs:
Quote:
BETA as a way
of life leads unerringly
towards bugs in the code.
Speculations/Reports on bugs in 2.5?

Next, which runs faster, 2.0 or 2.5? Does anybody know? Anyone planning on running some tests?

I plan on testing the syntax, but since I can't download code to a robot.....The sad part is this:

Everyone is so hyped about the new syntax, and gaming, that they lost the idea that BETA's are not ment for professional, final coding. It's just a matter to calm down a crowd with tear gas so to speak. Calm down the crowd for a bit, and devise (sp?) a new plan on how to finish off the rest of the mob.

This is just my opinion.

Sadly, I believe that I must agree with oyur view of beta. Since I so abhor waiting (Patience is a virtue... one that I don't have) perhaps I'll just start progamming in 2.0.

I'd like to point out that just because it is going to exist soon doesn't mean you want to religiously wait for it... be productive! Use the existing item while you wait!

(For instance, the school that I work at as an after school camp counseler is moving and the campus is getting torn down at the end of the school year. The fridge broke. Typical LAUSD response: The kids can get by without a refrigerator for 5 months... After that it would just have to be moved anyways. Mann.. I kept my lunch in that fridge.)

I don't have any patience either (bad thing for me to). You do have an excellent point on the religious stuff and whatnot. But yet, you get rookies who get all hyped on it, that they forget all about the working non-beta version.

Sorry to hear about the camp...good luck though

Back to the topic...

Move this kinda stuff to chit-chat or talk via PM/email/IM--it makes it really hard to have a meaningful discussion about bugs and the new editor.

Back on topic:
I personally do not forsee any significant bugs in the "beta" release. Since InnovationFirst obviously was able to use it to create/test the default code, it's fairly safe to assume that it works. Personally, I'm writing my code in 2.5 syntax, even if they never release a new editor. It wouldn't be ideal, but I can always strip the text parsing engine out of RoboEmu and convert my 2.5 program to 2.0 as a last resort.

Yea, but that doesn't mean that there won't be. 9.9 times out of 10 there usually is atleast 1 major bug in a BETA. But yea, you could be right. Plus, that code doesn't include advanced stuff (in the way of the atominus (sp?) mode).
