Photo management on team websites
Hello All,
I was wondering how teams go about organizing their photos and then incorporating those photos into their website. Right now I set up our 2012 photos in custom photo galleries with pop up lightboxes, which I really like. However, for making our team photobook and ordering prints we have a team shutterfly account. This is nice because it is very easy for others to download original files of the photos and upload their own. Also, most team members just upload their pictures to the team facebook page which is great for sharing but not for putting them on the website/in the yearly photobook. Does your team have a more efficient way of both integrating the photos into your site's layout but also using a photo service like shutterfly? I'm just getting tired of resizing all the photos for our site, uploading them to shutterfly, and then again uploading them to facebook. Thanks, Anna |

Re: Photo management on team websites
Team 177 uses Picasa for storing the photos. Our website pulls the photos from the program and they are viewed using a lightbox widget.
Here is a link to our website. http://www.bobcatrobotics.org/media/.../championships |

Re: Photo management on team websites
I will do some digging and get back to you. I am not the one who set it up and the script for our site is so confusing sometimes. (We've been thinking of starting a new site from scratch because it's so bad).

Re: Photo management on team websites
I purchase a PRO Flickr account for the team each year. I think it's like $24.95 for the whole year. Which gives us unlimited uploads.
We have archived our photos for 8 years on Flicker: http://www.flickr.com/photos/teamthr...1/collections/ Then the team website is designed with WordPress. So in WordPress, there is a free module called "Slickr Gallery" you install into WordPress. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/slickr-gallery/ I have to manually go in and refresh the gallery when it's added to flickr, then it auto-magically appears on the website too. I am sure there is a module that probably does this automatically, but I kind of like logging to refresh it just in case... http://huntingtonrobotics.org/photos/ |
