non SSE/SSE2 Optimized version of the DS

I am trying to install the DS application on an older Pentium series portable computer and I am getting errors with the LVRTE telling me that the binary was compiled including instructions my processor does not support.

Does anyone have an idea as to where I can get a version without this instruction set? I know that last year's dashboard worked fine, but I don't know if it would work with this year's data type for the robot control data. Also, I don't know where to find it.

Re: non SSE/SSE2 Optimized version of the DS

A version of the driver station without SSE optimization is not available this year, but might be available next year. See https://decibel.ni.com/content/message/32925#32925

The classmate should be an order of magnitude faster then an original Pentium, so I wouldn't expect the dashboard to work with camera streaming at any reasonable rate. Additionally, only the fastest Pentiums meet the minimum requirements for Windows XP, which is the earliest Windows version officially supported by the DS.

Re: non SSE/SSE2 Optimized version of the DS

thanks for the quick reply.

pentium systems are still quite abundant, especially in older portables, which is why I was trying to load a basic DS to drive for a demo. At the demo of course, I would not be using vision.

does anyone know if last year's DS can drive robots built with this year's frameworks? If so, does anyone have a copy I can have.

Re: non SSE/SSE2 Optimized version of the DS

The 2012 season dashboard was compiled using LabVIEW 2011 and uses SSE instructions -- or at least was compiled to allow the use of the instructions.

Older DS executables do not use the SSE instructions and should work fine on the older laptop. Hopefully that is sufficient for demos.
