Re: 2012 KOP wheels
We used Plaction wheels in 2010, and (like many teams that year) started breaking them going over the bumps (although we were a bit rough with the bumps...)
We ended up cutting two pieces of polycarbonate that perfectly fit the space between the spokes, and bolting them together, to strengthen the wheel. Due to weight concerns, we used this to repair wheels that were starting to crack, and did not put these in every spoke cavity of every wheel. You could do something like this for any 6" or 8" plaction or kit wheels if you are concerned with breaking on a field object, although this is highly game/field specific. |

Re: 2012 KOP wheels
The kit wheels worked great for us for our practice robot, but for our real robot, we used Plactions.

Re: 2012 KOP wheels
We used them all season. 6WD...loved them. We were always able to get to where we wanted to go. Excellent traction on carpet and especially on the bridges. We never spun when pushing another bot up the bridge.
AndyMark has done an excellent job with these wheels. |
