VEXnet joystick LCD screen

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect an LCD screen to the VEXnet joystick instead of connecting the LCD screent to the microcontroller?

thanks!

When you say the "LCD screen" do you mean the The VEX LCD ?

If so, you can not program the electronics in the VEX joystick, therefore connecting the VEX LCD to the VEX joystick is not possible.

However, you can write code on the VEX controller that displays joystick values on the LCD.

Re: VEXnet joystick LCD screen

Either the VEX LCD or a generic LCD. Right now I have the VEX LCD connected to the cortex microcontroller and it displays values, but when I'm driving the robot 10 ft in front of me, that makes the LCD screen basically useless. So I'd like to have a screen on the joystick so I can see the values no matter where the robot is relative to me.

Re: VEXnet joystick LCD screen

You may want to set up prints in your program - as long as the joystick is connected to your computer with the serial->usb cable you will be able to read values wirelessly. If you need the values during a competition match or anything of the sort it most likely isn't legal - I don't think the joystick could even give you any data other than its own status and input values.
