Long Island Teams: Webb Institute Conference
Save the date!
On October 14th, all SBPLI area teams are invited to the Webb Institute for a FRC conference. The conference will be free of cost for all participants. The conference will cover a few technical and non-technical topics in a series of workshops, including design strategy, manipulators, scouting, drive-train selection, control systems, and the FIRST Chairman’s award. These pre-season workshops are designed to bring students together in advance of the build season to learn and share information about FRC. The conference begins at 9:00 for rookies, 10:00 for all other teams, and ends at around 3:00. The Webb Institute is an engineering college located in Glen Cove, NY and the majority of the lectures will occur in their auditorium. Please email nconway15@webb-institute.edu if you are interested in or have questions about this opportunity. More information will be sent out shortly, including further details on registration, participation, and directions to Webb. All teams are encouraged to come and meet for a day of FIRST! |

Re: Long Island Teams: Webb Institute Conference
I graduated from Webb Institute! I highly encourage teams to attend this if possible. Especially rookie teams. Webb is a top notch private engineering college with a full tuition scholarship for every student admitted. It is a small school but definitely worth checking out. Plus, there are a lot of FIRST alumni from a wide variety of very successful teams from across the country. Though this is the first year that the school will be organizing a FIRST conference event of their own, it is full of plenty of experience, and a great student body who are interested in serving the Long Island FIRST Community.
(If you attend the SBPLI Regional, you may recognize all of the webb students who volunteer) So in conclusion: Attend, and let us share our passion for technology and engineering with you. |
