What was your best/worst fund raising idea?

We have tried several different fund raising schemes and are always looking for good ideas.

Our best fund raiser was a school dance that we sponsored the Friday night after Halloween. We raised $1,500 in one night.

Our worst fund raiser was selling "book socks" (stretchy book covers). I think we still have a the bulk of the book socks in a box.

The best that we did was our various little things this year, such as calanders and other things. The worst is not doing one at all.

We are selling $5 raffle tickets, for a new computer system (donated by a local store), and we will make about $4,000 in less than a months time. Not bad since we only have about 25 students participating!

The computer system raffle is an excellent idea. You also are running the raffle just in time for Christmas...perfect timing!

I'm not sure if we're allowed to sell raffle tickets in school. Fund raising in the high school is something we have to get approved and schedule with other teams and clubs (To prevent two groups from doing the same fund raiser at the same time).

Our best fundraiser is home made pies from a bakery. We sold over 600 pies this year, and I think we make about $2 a piece.... this is pretty good with our nearest neighbors not being within walking distance

Our worst fundraiser... this summer at the county fair we did demos. At the same time we were trying to get money to go to the Maryland State Fair Competition.... well... it was July and hot, so we tried to sell freeze pops. Someone bought over 10,000 freeze pops to sell, and I don't even think we sold one whole case which is like 100 freeze pops.

I am surprised the book sox's didn't work. The seniors in my school sell them, and they usually do pretty well.

Worst was a Baja Fresh Fundraiser night. Took in $15. Spent $8 making copies of flyers. Don't do it.

Best was probably a car wash where we made $650. It was supposed to rain the next day too.

whats pretty funny is that our team makes most of its money off selling hand made beeswax candles. I dont know the company name, but you can order a box of beeswax sheets, then u roll them into candles. We then decorate them. Mainly holiday themes, I thought it wouldnt work at first, but it makes alot of money.

I am also proud to be the screaming idiot for our car washes. Quite a sight. Lol.

Garage Sale

We just asked for stuff from the community, and offered to pick it up, and we made $1400 in two days, + pick up time.

Need a place to store stuff this way.

Did you mean that as a best or worst? It could be interpreted either way.

Team 930 did about the same. It is a great idea. Each member went to family and friends and got stuff that people did want and Team 930 sold it at a Garage Sale.

We did it the same weekend of Maxwell Street Days (it is a big time in Mukwonago, About 100 venders come to the park and sell stuff). We had people walk around Maxwell Street Days handing people flyers and people at the stores (Wal-mart and food stores) We made about $1500 total

the worst fundraiser i was ever apart of was not to do with robotics it was a fern sale... If you dont no what a fern is you dont want to. We spent 2 weekends getting the ferns and 2 days selling them we made a total of $90 and we sold about 10. we we're there for like 20+ hours over the 2 days and also had to deliver some of them... The best idea on robotics was probaly the Bake Sale that we had. We made somewhere between $200-$400 it was a good sale we almost sold out the first night and had everyone go home and bake more that night.. it was at parent teacher conferences and worked out really well.. It my first taste of Robotics and i was the corridnator some things went wrong but in the end the sale was the best fundraiser in that time period we have had.

We did a raffle but wasn´t very good. now we are selling the spaces on the school wall to restaurants, markets... we make good money selling this spaces because we sell a space to the hole year than they have to pay all the months, and our school has big and well localized walls...
