If I read the guide correctly, the bottom pvc is 10 inches, and the top two are 12 inches, giving us 34 inches. Add 3-4 inches for fittings and we have a height of ~37 inches.

The base adds another 4-5 inches too (diagrams for the base are earlier in the guide). So maybe around 40 inches?

I heard 35-36" for the middle peg at the kickoff, but maybe they measured wrong, or maybe they were talking about the high peg. I may have misheard as well.

Re: [FTC]: Ring It Up! Scoring Potential

Most matches will be lucky to see a score above 200. I predict a November/December average score of 80, with most successful alliances averaging 150 or so points by February.

For what it's worth, this is coming from the guy who found the Lockout strategy in the '09-'10 game (yes, there was one), and who figured out how to 'most likely' win the '11-'12 game on the Monday following kickoff (one of my teams did win champs this year...). Right now I don't see a "lock out" or "probably win" scenario that's guaranteed once executed, but I then again I've only read the rules rather than analyzed them. YMMV though.

Focus on the simple things, leaving flexibility for the larger picture. That's the key to FTC (well, having a kick-butt autonomous helps too...).

I couldn't agree more. My team had a killer autonomous during the 2010-2011 Get Over Season and 90% of the time had the match won at the end of autonomous.

Autonomous can not be understated!!!

I agree with JesseK that having a great autonomous can be a huge advantage. In the 2010-2011 Get Over Season, my team had a killer autonomous and lost only one of our matches at Worlds because of this autonomous.
