Re: [FTC]: Ring It Up Field Walkthrough with 5454

Thanks for posting this Andrew. For me, the most interesting thing is how tight of a fit the rings are on the pegs. Just removing them from the dispensers is going to be a challenge for our team. Luckily it looks like holding them on any angle past horizontal will allow them to score fairly easily, provided you're lined up properly depth-wise. Should be a game full of precision engineering and programming.

@Andrew

For those PVC pipe pieces... the 1" measurement... is that inside diameter or outside diameter? Hoping you know since you've had some hands-on time with the new FTC field. I was thinking that was outside diameter of the PVC. Haven't had a chance to visit Lowe's across yet though! Thank you.

In pipe, 1" is a nominal diameter and neither the inside nor outside measure at 1".

The outside diameter of 1" Schedule 40 PVC is 1.315".

Re: [FTC]: Ring It Up Field Walkthrough with 5454

Six combined years of coaching FRC and FTC, and I never really noticed that PVC pipe 'sizes' don't match the inside OR the outside...

Thanks for the clarification Madison! At least now I'll be sure the pipe in the "1 inch" bin at the store is the right stuff for each field element.
