Linear Rule Question

Would it be 'legal' to take the threaded rod portion from a garage door and use it for a classified linear lift?

Re: Linear Rule Question

I would post this into the Q&A.

However I would ask a few questions as a past inspector of FTC.

1. Is this part easily accessible by other teams commonly and easily? (COTS part)

2. If not that could be be considered a custom part. If then I'd as how it was made.

3. This one is a bit more of sarcastic response, but why would you want to take apart your garage door opener for an FTC robot, why not just buy some threaded rod/lead screw from mcmaster?
