or you could take a box, taper it, apply edit mesh and pull out the lids sides&sink the top, then just a little more work on the sides apply a mesh smooth... and vola... box.

--PS: you should post any more q's about max in the correct tech forum.

Two Parts

Just take and model the box, and the lid as two separate identies. Then make an assembly, and then bring them into the model.

"Correct Size"

I'm making a full scale model of the tote/container in Inventor right now at school. I should have it done within the next few days and it should be pretty accurate +or- .25 in (that number gives me breathing room, but it should come out really close). I worked on it for about 10 minutes today and got about 90% of the lid done.

Work in Progress

I'm still working on the container (going kinda slow today).

Here is a pic of what i've got done.

I've got most of the lid done except the grip part, which should be done tomorrow easily.

[sarcasm]I'm really looking foward to doing the actual container part [/sarcasm]

working...

I'm the a CAD class at school (the same one as Clark) and I'm modeling it too. The part I'm stuck on is the grips by the handles. He should get done before me, but I'll put mine up on the web also when I get done.

Smile Could you please?

Roman,
My name is Darrin Vogeli from team 180(SPAM) we are having real big trouble with 3ds especially modeling. Our animation team is made up of 4 people, and I. We are all pretty much rookies, with of course no comp. hives or advisors. It would be much appreciated if you could send me your field model. My e-mail is gumbyfly00@aol.com

Thanks,
Darrin

For all of you modeling the bins, our team is doing it in Inventor , then importing it into MAX. I find this to be the easiest way, since you can be extremely precise by just measuring the bin itself. I'm not quite sure if Inventor 6 imports into 5, but I do know on our computers that Inventor 5 imports into Max 4.2. I dunno if our team would be willing to put the file on the net, but I'll be sure to post a picture of it tomorrow. If anyone is having trouble you can E-mail me at rjdognaux@cyberblue234.com or IM me at "Evilstanley".

Unfortunately, we've been having some problems with the container. There were a few things that needed to be changed, and now it's a mess, so we'll try to get it up either tomorrow or Thursday. Sorry bout that.
