I live and work in the yellow section in the upper middle of the map. Which is the area I was talking about. The CT shore was detroyed and I haven't gotten any first hand reports from there yet.

Prayers and good thoughts to those on North Eastern coast. I have seen a few photos of the flooding in New York that are being passed around the company I work for. Our rental trucks are almost completely submerged! It's absolutely crazy.

Re: Hurricane Sandy

Where I am, overall, isn't too bad. All around me has no power, there's a chunk of about 15-20 houses on my street that have power (mine included).

The night of the storm was pretty interesting, I was sitting by the window the entire night watching the sky turn green every few minutes from transformers blowing, followed by a pretty big spark around 10pm where I lost power and it came back at 5am. Words spreading around that because of the amount of outages it may take 4 or 5 days to get everyone back up and running.

As far as tree damage and such, where I am in Hamilton (just outside of Trenton) there really isn't that much.

Stay safe!

Re: Hurricane Sandy

Got word from my family and my high school team that they are all safe and were super lucky with the storm. However, down near the shore points, one of my good friends girlfriend had significant damage to her home and also family friends homes were horrendously damaged. Even though I love where I am right now and really can't leave, it hurts me to not be able to help them out in NJ. Thanks for the thoughts too everyone.

Re: Hurricane Sandy

Bah! The ocean never even got close to my house.

The worst in town was a couple of trees came down in the neighborhood (fortunately in a park, so no house damage), and a whole bunch of leaves to rake now. And the dog nor I wanted to go for a walk at the height of the storm, but we did anyway, with good results. Every day is a nice day to walk a dog.

Re: Hurricane Sandy

876,339 homes without power here.
Lots of flooding in low lying areas.
Tons and tons of trees down.

No damage to my house - a couple of fence sections crushed.
Neighbors to the left and right had trees into their house or a crushed pool, so we were all out with our chainsaws in a community cleanup. Some houses have generators and supplied coffee for everyone. I now live on a temporary cul-de-sac.

I may have trouble getting our robot out for Brunswich Eruption (if they aren't down themselves).

Re: Hurricane Sandy

In the outer western Philadelphia suburbs: some flooding and lots of trees and fencing down/damaged in our yard, a little water damage inside, power not expected back until November 6. (Much of the region has power already, but there's some serious and not-entirely-known damage in our area.) Some water damage in our robotics shop, but no high-ticket items. Overall, no major flooding or any life- or major property-threatening damage, so we're happy (and lucky)!

Central PA (Penn State): nothing too bad. Rough that night (rougher in that classes were only canceled at noon on Monday and were back Tuesday morning!), but basically good now.

Best wishes to everyone. 1640 hopes you and yours are doing ok!

Re: Hurricane Sandy

I'm concerned for our many FIRST teams located along our Connecticut shoreline which was hard-hit by Sandy. If you are from a CT team which was impacted by the storm please e-mail me and let me know how you are faring.

BE said they will be updating teams as soon as they hear something from their school board. They will do their best to keep everyone informed in a timely manner. My personal guess will be that they will have to postpone BE. Most schools in NJ are closed until Monday, and those that aren't will have an insanely hard time finding any gas for student drivers. If you do have fuel right now, conserve it as much as you can. People in are area have already started pulling guns and been getting violent at the pumps.

Hope everyone is doing okay. PSE&G and JCPL facilities are down across NJ and ConEd doesn't seem to be doing well either.

My house won't have power for a while, we have about 5 trees down on our power lines and the transformers have blown.

The benefits of state-mandated full-service gasoline pumping...
Stay safe everyone!
