Exclamation Is this channel legal for FTC?

Please help!

Our rookie FTC team is ready to build, but needed more channel. The TETRIX channel is really pricey! Does anyone know if this andy mark channel is legal?

Thanks!

Re: Is this channel legal for FTC?

Nope.

I'm not going to the rulebook to find the rule and quote it, but you're only allowed to use aluminum parts other than Tetrix, Matrix, or Lego if they're in raw form.

The C-Channel from AndyMark has had holes pre-cut, and would not be considered raw, and thus illegal.

Re: Is this channel legal for FTC?

No I don't think they are legal because it's not a TETRIX part nor a "raw" material.

However, you can buy aluminum channels (without holes) from McMaster Carr or other vendors and they would be legal (something like this: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-al...nnels/=k3x6j7). You can cut them to any length and drill the holes yourself and whatnot. Definitely cheaper and more flexibility but more work.

Good luck!

Go get thinner c channel, the andy mark stuff is for the big robots that hold 150 pounds for FTC you can manage thinner stuff also go to your high school manufacturing lab and have them CnC it for you its way cheaper then tetrix and faster then student drilling.

For three years we have been doing FRC without a true machine shop, just a bandsaw and a drill press. This year however CMU is letting us use all of their fancy equipment for free, its going to be so cool!
