[FTC]: FTC Using Labview Encoders

I am a fairly experienced C++ programmer, but I am fairly new to LabView, especially applying Labview to FTC. I am trying to figure out how to use encoders for various functions, like driving straight. I found Phil's encoder tips, but the encoder files that he refers to in the toolkit palette are not showing up for me (I relize that the documents are a bit outdated). I made sure I downloaded both of the updates from here: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-17997
Any help on using encoders on the NXT brick would be helpful.
Thanks.
