The ones I ordered didn't come with hardware for attaching fans.

However, I don't think the mounting will be complicated. Two screws 6-32 x .625" should do it. No spacers needed.

The holes are about 1/4 inch deep. I put a 6-32 screw in one of them as far as it would go, and then counted 8.5 turns while taking it back out.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Easy enough, thanks! 6-32 isn't something I can get locally in any convenient sizes, but I can easily get them either via mail order or when someone gets up closer to civilization.

If you've got VEX stuff laying around, you've got gobs of 6-32 hardware.

The Talons do not include hardware to mount the fan. The fan comes complete with pre-crimped connections and two 6-32 screws.

Are they the same geometry as the ubiquitous victor fans of which we have gazillions and gazillions? (That is to say, the same mounting holes?)

Yes, a victor fan will fit on a talon, and vice versa.

Re: pic: Talon connected

Would it be possible to tap the fans with a metric thread? Do the holes bottom out before the PCB? Would we introduce too much swarf?

Here there is an extremely limited selection of imperial, the only imperial hardware we use are from AM.

Alternatively is it possible to use something like the clips for the victor fans?

The accumulated fans that I assume many teams have stashed away from prior years' kits do not include the necessary screws.
