Go to Post FIRST robots definitely meet many commonly agreed upon definitions of robots. Some will disagree. Good for them. In my opinion, it's not worth arguing over. - Mikell Taylor [more]

I understand that, but how exactally do u multiplex something into the controller? Is the RC capable of serial communication? I would think it would be far too slow. It looks like u have the current sensor outputs feding into a microcontroller with ADCs which somehow combines all of the sensor inputs into one. Would you be willing to post the source for this.
Thanks ALOT!!!!!!!!

Not for our purposes (you can do serial communications with the RC over the programming port, but the rules don't allow that).

We used a total of 11 digital inputs to connect to the custom circuit - 4 for the motor number and 7 for the current data for the motor. Then all we did was have our microcontroller output a motor number and associated current value 20 times a second, which was slow enough to guarantee that the same data would be sent in at least 2 over the air packets back to the driver's station.

What part of it do you think would be too slow? If you're referring to the robot controller, yes it's slow but everyon's already known that. Besides, our RC didn't react to data from the custom circuit. It merely relayed the data OTA to the Palm at the driver's station. Also, we did have the capability of converting our motor data to an analog number to feed back into the RC but we didn't end up using that option. That was a backup in case we wouldn't have enough digital inputs available (for example if we had needed more limit switches on the robot or whatever).
