Running 2013 DVD Kit for win7 64bit?

Hey guys. We're pumped for kickoff and trying to get everything set up, but I have a huge issue:

Our little white laptop's screen is 100% broken. The laptop itself works, but we have to use a separate screen for the output.
I have my own laptop that we could use, but it is windows 7 64bit (as opposed to 32bit like the white FRC laptop) and LabVIEW, the Drive Station, and FRC Tools will not install due to the different OS type.

Has anyone had any luck installing this year's CD's programs on a 64bit system? This would really really help

And a few questions:
-Are we allowed to use laptops other than the white laptop? Can I use my own?
-If so, do I need a separate log-in or can I use my normal profile?
-If not, are we allowed to use a separate SCREEN OUTPUT connected to the white laptop?

Thanks for all the help. Really appreciate it!

EDIT: SOLVED! After uninstalling the NI stuff (when uninstalling apps, look for "National Instruments"), THEN trying to run auto-run, it worked perfectly fine.

Also for anyone having trouble with the serial code, use: S14X86763

Lastly for my questions above:
-yes you can you another computer
-you do NOT need a separate login

Re: Running 2013 DVD Kit for win7 64bit?

I don't seem to be having problems installing the updates on my 64bit Windows 7 laptop.

Can you give some info on the error message or however you know that it won't install?

Yes, in 2011 FIRST started letting teams use computers other than the classmate.

This was true during 2011, but since last year, you no longer need to have a "Driver" user on your laptop, so no, you don't.

Probably not, seeing as a monitor would need a power source, and they only let you plug in your classmate behind the driver station, so this doesn't seem feasible.

Hope this helps.

Re: Running 2013 DVD Kit for win7 64bit?

Oh sweet! I'll definitely use my own computer then. If you're not having issues, that's great! Means it's something else, but actually fixable.

The issue it's providing says:
Quote:
NI Error Reporting 2011 SP1:

Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\NI Error Reporting.
The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
However, I *AM* the administrator. Not only am I the only user on the laptop, but I also tried a second time by right-clicking and clicking "Run as Administrator" and still got the error message.

My dad's a computer IT and is the one that said it's the 32bit vs 64bit issue, but if it's not that.. Anyone got any ideas? Once I can get everything installed on my personal computer, things should be gravy.

I have an older version of LabVIEW and the drive station already on my laptop, however
1) They don't show up on the list to uninstall O.o
2) I read in another thread that different versions of LabVIEW *CAN* be installed on the same system without messing with each other
so I don't think that's the issue, but just in case it's needed info

When the installer launches automatically, close it then locate autorun.exe on the disc, right click and select Run as Administrator.

Re: Running 2013 DVD Kit for win7 64bit?

I would try uninstalling the other version of LabVIEW that you have (my guess is last year's), because that error came from NI Error Reporting 2011 SP1, and 2011 was the version of LabVIEW used in FRC last year, and this year we are using 2012. (The activation from last year is almost expired anyway.) The link that RufflesRidge included as his source shows how to uninstall it.

This is really odd though, because I'm not having any problem running LabVIEW, and I still have last year's installed.

Re: Running 2013 DVD Kit for win7 64bit?

sure enough, after I uninstalled the NI stuff in my programs, everything installed normally!

Multiple LabVIEWS should be able to coexist, as i read on the forums, but I'm happy ^^

Thanks everyone for all the help! Updated the OP for anyone else with this issue
