Press fitting

How much smaller than the diameter of a bearing would you make a hole in order to press fit it and have it be in firmly?

That thread seems to be press fitting into sheet metal. What about directly into aluminum tube? And how many thousandths of an inch would you recommend? Also, to cut into the tube, can that be done? The you hinted at is more for sheet metal, which we do not have access to.

Sheet metal and the wall of your tubing has little difference when you are press fitting a bearing into it. you should be able to use the same sizes as that thread states.

Generally for FRC usage a thou under is enough.
The bigger issue is can you actually machine to that kind of tolerance?
A reamer would do it perfectly every time however just using say an endmill on a CNC machine you may be a few thou off due to tool wear causing a press fit to turn into a non fit.
