Having Trouble Installing NI Drivers from KoP

I'm trying to install the second option (Only FRC Tools) from the National Instruments Software CD that we received in the Kit of Parts onto my laptop. I have a Dell Latitude with Windows 7 x64 on it. I've followed the instructions given on the NI website exactly as they are given; I've deleted all other NI software from my laptop, taken down all the firewalls, and I even installed it on a different computer without any difficulty (that other computer is an HP p6707c with Windows 7 x64 on it). Any suggestions?

Re: Having Trouble Installing NI Drivers from KoP

What is the "trouble" you mention? You didn't tell us anything we can use to help you.

Re: Having Trouble Installing NI Drivers from KoP

I keep getting pop-ups after the first driver (the NI-RIO driver) finishes installing that say "An error occurred while installing NI-RIO. Do you want to continue installing the remaining products?". The drivers download correctly, they just don't install.

Re: Having Trouble Installing NI Drivers from KoP

What "drivers" are you downloading, and from where? Your first message says you're installing from a CD; do you mean the LabVIEW DVD?

I know you said you're following the instructions exactly, but I'd like you to describe each step you take, starting with putting the DVD into your computer's optical drive. There might be something you are missing, or something you're assuming that isn't true. Or you might even be following the wrong instructions entirely -- the ones I know of reside on the ScreenSteps web site, not the National Instruments one.

Re: Having Trouble Installing NI Drivers from KoP

Nevermind, I found out that the problem was just that the laptops we tried to install them on have extra security on them.

For other teams that see this thread, as Ken said, our suspicion is about some security settings on these laptops. They were graciously provided by a sponsor and are running Windows 7 x64. One thing we noted is that although we have an account with admin privileges, and we turned off the virus scanning apps, we cannot turn off the firewall because it states that is restricted to the System Administrator. So we are curious if that could be the issue since all other types of laptops install fine.

One other thread I am tracking is:

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh....php?p=1210457

Especially the post about the same very generic message we are getting. There it indicates it may be a .NET installation issue.
