When Are We Allowed to Start Climbing?

Our team is working on how to climb up the pyramid but are unsure when the pyramid climb begins, the video says near the end of the game and the rule book , unless we keep missing it, has not stated that time. Does anybody know when exactly the climb begins?

You are allowed to climb at any time during the match. However, in order for the climb to count u must stay on the pyramid until the end of the match.

There is no rule restricting, prohibiting, or penalizing climbing before some time in the match. You can climb the pyramid at any time.

Whenever the rule book conflicts with the game video or any other non-technical source, always follow the rule book.

Can you quote your source on that. I have yet to find it. What I did see was "Points are awarded for the highest level achieved for every ALLIANCE ROBOT that CLIMBS its PYRAMID" (3.2.4.2) So is the team awarded points for the highest level achieved or for the level at the end of the match?

I suspect he is drawing his answer from the game animation, which states at 2:29 that points for climbing will only be assessed based on the state of the robot at the end of the match.

Although the manual seems to be clear on this, there is a blatant contradiction here that the GDC needs to address.

I think that a QA question to clarify that is in order, but since the statement above what you quoted says:

3.1.5 Scoring

Points are awarded to ALLIANCES per the details below. Final scores will be assessed five (5) seconds after the ARENA timer displays zero (0) or when all elements come to rest, whichever event happens first.

It seems to indicate that the where the robot is at that time, the appropriate score will be assessed.
