If you have no programming experience, I recommend giving LabVIEW a try. It's really easy to pick up, and the graphical interface is less daunting and more intuitive than a wall of text-based code. It comes with plenty of FRC-specific examples to help you figure out how to integrate any components you'd like to use.

If someone on your team does have programming experience, you can also use Java and C++ for a more traditional programming environment.

Would love to help....We have mentors and students on software with C++, Java, and Labview. Contact me by email and we'll get you set up with them either via Skype or some other method.

They can walk you through deciding what language will best suit your team's skills and goals and then help you get up to speed with the cRIO and supporting software and electronics/wiring

Re: Rookies looking for alliance members (NYC)

There are lots of excellent teams in NYC that will certainly lend a hand. We are on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel, but will help in any way we can. We have a regulation pyramid in our warehouse and are there every night and all weekend. We are in Clifton, NJ. My students are still mastering LabView, but they know enough to get by. The mentors has additional LabView training over the holiday. We will be at the NYC competition.
