Programming Simulator

Does the programming simulator mentioned at kickoff this year only work with Labview?

So is there no way we can use it with our java program? Like we aren't able to load it on there and see how it works?

Re: Programming Simulator

The robot simulator is presently LabVIEW-only. The LabVIEW versions of many of the WPI library functions are written to be able to communicate with the simulator instead of the cRIO's FPGA when running on the PC. I believe the simulator display is also a LabVIEW window, though I'm not totally sure of that.

Re: Programming Simulator

The simulator is a portion of the LabVIEW for Robotics Module typically sold into universities. The solver is based on ODE, Open Dynamics Engine, and the window is based on OSG, Open Scene Graph. The OSG is embedded in a LV indicator called the 3D Picture Control, and that is placed on a LV panel to complete the simulation window.

So, at this point, it is available within LV, but the Java and C++ integration wasn't completed. We hope to see it completed next year.
