Drivetrain Turning Considerations

Whoa! Hey! Did you guys notice that the robots are different sizes this year? Weird, right?

I wonder how the different chassis size affects robot turning. Maybe I should take a minute and go through the math about drivetrain turning again? I think I'm going to do that.

The Best Whitepaper on Drivetrain Turning Ever Written.

Yep, that was very helpful. Now I understand more about how our robot is going to perform in this new wheel configuration. Since I can't rely on good old-fashioned experience, I'll turn to math!

Hey, Thanks John!

Now I better understand why my square 4wd won't turn even though it's only 27" long!

note:
-The wheelbase ratio matters a whole lot more then the individual length and width for turning. (The "Robot in Three Days" robot probably wouldn't turn very well at all on carpet)

Turning is crucial to having a good season. Please make sure you can turn.
Regards, Bryan
