Reusing encoders on new tough box mini

Hey all,

My team is looking into reusing our encoders from last years robot and taking them off of the 2012 tough box and mounting it on the 2013 tough box mini.

My question for teams: are there any tips you have on taking off the encoders off of the old toughbox? Clearly I want to do this without damaging the housing. Any tips?

Thanks!

Re: Reusing encoders on new tough box mini

Whatever you do DO NOT TOUCH THE ENCODER DISK WITH BARE HANDS OR ANYTHING HARD. It's not the housing you worry about, it's the disk. Damaging the disk ruins the entire encoder - it won't read correctly anymore (the scratch will throw off the count, and if you bend it, all bets are off for it reading at all).
