Gripping the Discs

We've tried everything from kitchen jar openers to sandpaper (which worked but is slightly illegal). Anyone have any suggestions on materials that grip the frisbee without destroying it? We need to wrap the material around a roller on our intake.

Re: Gripping the Discs

Plaction tread works well at gripping most things.

Re: Gripping the Discs

For wrapping, maybe shelf liner (this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Duck-1100731-N...8461753&sr=1-1 can be found at Walmart, Ace, Lowes, etc) would work. It has thickness (good for compression) as well as some rubbery properties.

Re: Gripping the Discs

Yarudl: Do you have any idea if we could find that somewhere other than Andymark? They ship incredibly slowly so somewhere local like home depot, Lowes, or somewhere like that would be great.
TheOtherGuy: That was actually one of our original ideas, we have a roll of it and it doesn't seem to get the best grip on the discs.

But thanks for both replies, I'm actually captain of Team 2495 and although I've used Delphi for a resource since I joined the team, haven't actually posted before.

Surgical tubing works pretty well. Monday we'll be playing with handle dip!

I'm really tempted to try the suction-cup tape from Inventables:

Re: Gripping the Discs

If it is for some kind of shooter I would suggest pneumatic wheels for getting the most contact area. If it is for something else that just involves gripping the Frisbee, I would suggest a foam roller or placation treads. Good luck!

Re: Gripping the Discs

We have been using roughtop/wedgetop with reasonable success.

Re: Gripping the Discs

You might consider grip tape, also from Inventables: https://www.inventables.com/technologies/grip-tape. Grip Tape is a specially treated fabric covered with an embossed silicone rubber coating.
