We use the 2 1/4" button size from Badge-A-Minit. We bought a complete machine and software solution several years ago. It has paid for itself many times over.

Ours are usually 3", but it's a little big. I'd suggest the 2" or 2-1/4" ones.

Most teams give out 2.25. There's exceptions, and depending on how "out there" the exception is, you'll be remembered. There's Bomb Squad who gives out micro-buttons (like 1" diameter) or there's Gear hogs who gives out micro-micro-buttons (like .5" diameter), then there's the opposite end where 476 gives out massive 5" buttons. So buy whatever size you want (but preferably keep it reasonable. Nobody needs a shield sized button)
