Go to Post I think there is much to be learned from working in teams, and team projects, but even more when you go out on your own some time for something you are truly passionate about. - paul_v [more]

Re: General motor difficulties

Questions. Yes some of them are stupid, but you'd be surprised how many stupid mistakes I've made over the years. Sometimes you're looking for a complex problem when it's something simple. So:
  1. Have you successfully imaged your cRIO?
  2. Do you have the modules plugged into the cRIO in the correct order? The cRIO Imaging Tool will tell you if it's correct. Should be something like 9201, 9403, then 9472.
  3. Is your robot enabled?
  4. What pattern is your Robot Signal Light blinking? (Or the RSL LED on the Sidecar) Is should be long on - short off if you're enabled in Teleop.
  5. Do you have 12V power wired to your Sidecar?
  6. Is the cable to your Sidecar wired backwards? There were lots of backwards ones last year. Pin 1 on the male side should connect to Pin 1 on the female side.
  7. Are you plugging in your PWM cables correctly? Black should go to the outside of the Sidecar, the inside of the Victor 884, and towards the brake/coast jumper on the Jaguar.
  8. Last and silliest, are you sure you're plugging it into the correct PWM port? I've seen motor PWMs plugged into Relay ports and Digital IO ports before, after all.
