Re: What is YOUR autonomous strategy?

We designed our robot to only shoot into the top goal from the top of the pyramid, so in autonomous we climb up the pyramid, shoot one frisbee, climb down, pick up another frisbee, climb up, shoot, climb down, and then drive in a donut on the center line.
Did I mention that we can only shoot the frisbees sideways?

hmm... This is a reply to Jared, who's on 341, and the poster above is from 25... and both mentioned driving into a wall... I'd say that 25 and 341 are onto something here...

If everything goes according to our plan this will be our autonomous strategy but additionally if time permits back up to the center line. Or ....... ram into a wall.

Re: What is YOUR autonomous strategy?

I don't know why so many people are ramming the wall when there are so many more interesting options. You can ram a pyramid upright and flip over. Or, consider the case where you push your floor frisbees down to the other team then shoot your frisbees into their goal. How about just turning around and launching all of yours downfield? Or the classic zoom around running into all your partners.

You are REALLY not challenging yourselves.

We'll be scoring the preloaded disks, then do circles for the rest of auton.

In our rookie year, we did a slight variation of that:

Our robot will use sensors to collect information about its environment, then unintentionally discard that information and drive into a wall an opposing robot that is 50' away at the other end of the field.

Amazingly enough, the unintentional bug got us picked for an elimination alliance as an "enforcer"!

Not at all. Some of us like to just sit there, saving our energy for Tele-Op.

Re: What is YOUR autonomous strategy?

Score 3 preloads. If I have programming time, maybe ignore sensors and drive into a wall, not ignore sensors and drive into a wall (and/ or pick up and shoot more discs)

Considering that you cannot cross the center line until teleop, I can't think of any way to play defense at all.

While it may not work every match, we'll have the ability to play some defense in auto mode.

Re: What is YOUR autonomous strategy?

The only way to play defense during auton is to shoot down your opponent's shots with your own discs

I think that would be pretty sweet lol. But anti-productive considering all your disk are on the other side of the field now.
