Rivets are your friends.
Some 3/16 rivets would save some weight, and in our testing be more then enough to hold it all.

Using the kit rails, you'll need to get 1/4" rivets. The rest of the them could be 3/16" if you drill them for it.

Definitely! In fact, I would consider using those gusset/bracket/plates instead of the standard blocks for the AM frame almost solely so you could use 1/4" rivets!

Switching to rivets would probably save 2-4 pounds from that frame... in my rough estimation, at least! :-)

At the rate were going we actually need to add weight to the bottom of the frame. Plus, we had the bolts already so its cheaper for us as well (tight budgets are fun!). We managed to get this amazing machining sponsor that not only cuts for free but supplies materials, and does so for about 3 or 4 teams in our area. Without them I don't know what we'd be doing this year.
