Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber

We designed it carefully so that it fits in the 54" cylinder until it touches the tower where the 54" cylinder can be in any orientation.

Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber

you guys aren't violating G23-1 B. when you intiailly start your climb, are you?

"While in contact with the PYRAMID, a ROBOT

B. may not extend any part of itself beyond a vertical plane defined by a perimeter offset from the base of the PYRAMID by 54 in., see Figure 3-5b and Figure 3-5c."

We would have to try very hard to get the robot to violate that rule. It's designed to prefectly fit within a 54" vertical cylinder when the robot is cantilevered horizontally and the free claw vertical or angled towards the pyramid.

It's hard to tell, but is there any anti-backdrive in the gearboxes? It seems like they might backdrive and you could sag down below the 2nd rung after power is cut if you're not folded all the way up.

It's a very cool system, I was really hoping someone would make a flipper climber!

Tumbleweed!(Our team nickname for the idea) This was a climbing idea I was sad to see go off of our list.

The total ratio on those arms is (if I remember right) around 1:900. We can stay in place without a problem if we're fairly close to vertical without a problem.
