Reversible Bumpers???

Is anyone using reversible bumpers this year? I know they have been allowed in recent years, just want to check before we start sewing!

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

We are not doing reversable, just bumper covers. As long as they conform to all of the bumper rules when on the robot there would be no issues with reversable bumpers.

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

2470 is doing reversible bumpers for the first time this year. I believe 3081 is planning on reversible bumpers as well. We are making them based off of the white paper here on CD.

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

One of our students worked on designing our reversible bumpers last night, and will be sewing them up tonight and tomorrow. Unfortunately, that's as long as she gets to finish them, as she leaves for a trip on Thursday. Talk about bad timing!

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

Team 2240 are using the reversible bumpers this year. They are a lot more work, but in the end I think they will pay off. We have also made the bumpers easy to get on and off, just in case.

Wink Re: Reversible Bumpers???

Team 3502 is using "reversible bumpers" because we have had trouble with bumper covers in the past. It is really bad it the corner of the cover gets caught on something and then you start to drive over it...
I don't know what everyone means by reversible bumpers but we sewed ours so that they have a flap that you just have to flip over.

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

MOE 365 has sewn reversible bumper covers the past few years. They work extremely well! Currently, our bumper covers are being embroidered with our team number. We should have them back in house later this week for remainder of sewing before we slap them on officially this weekend.

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

The Green Reapers did this last year and we will never go back. The amount of time an hassles saved was amazing. Especially in eliminations where you would rather fix the robot than change bumpers.

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

We are doing reversible bumpers for the first time this year.

I have a question for all you guys doing reversible bumpers: what are you doing for bumper numbers? Paint? Sewn-on numbers?

We are trying the AndyMark iron-on numbers and while they originally appeared to be completely adhered, they have started to peel off once we began assembling the reversible bumpers. At this point I am very tempted to just paint the numbers on. Ideas?

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

This with be the 6th year we've used the same screen printer, and the third year for reversible bumpers. I highly recommend finding a local screen printer... try to convince them to sponsor you with free prints for your bumpers!

Re: Reversible Bumpers???

We used reversible bumper covers last year for the first time. It reduces a lot of stress during the competition and we are doing it again!
