Bimba Cylinder question

So we have ordered our Bimba Cylinders and they will be delivered at the end of the week. However given that this makes it close on time, we want the rest of the pneumatic system to be in place. So my question is: What type of connection is on the Cylinders. I know we need the M5 connections on the solenoid, but what is on the cylinders, and does it come with them from Bimba?

Re: Bimba Cylinder question

The cylinders from Bimba have a 1/8" NPT female connection. You need a male 1/8" NPT fitting to go into it. The fittings are not included with the cylinders.

Re: Bimba Cylinder question

Some of the larger bore cylinders have 1/4" npt fittings, you'll have to check with Bombs.

Re: Bimba Cylinder question

... and you can get the fittings for free from AutomationDirect.com

Use the $20 coupon that came in your kit (it doesn't cover the $6 shipping).

They ship same day so you usually have them in a day or two.

Tinsky is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Bimba Cylinder question

Also, just a note. . . if you are not concerned about cylinder speed you can use the standard fittings but if you want to control the speed of the stroke be sure to get flow control (regulating out) fittings.

Sorry, I forgot that....the 1.5" bore cylinders are 1/8", I think the 2" bore are 1/4".

Re: Bimba Cylinder question

You can search for a Parker store near your area. I was surprised that there were several within a few miles of my team. The staff was helpful and we were able to find everything we needed.

This is especially helpful if you forget fittings or your needs change and you need fittings quickly.

Re: Bimba Cylinder question

You could also order cylinders and pay for them. If the item is in stock, it will ship same day. From Bimba to Cincy was next day delivery if I ordered in the morning. Same goes for ordering from McMaster Carr, which is a little cheaper than direct from Bimba.

This is assuming you have the funds to do this. Good thing is then the free ones become your spares.
