Quick Jaguar Question

My Team and I were testing our shooter yesterday and we forgot to take off the tape on the jaguar. It's a black jaguar from last year I believe. It after a while of testing it stopped working and started to blink a slow red light. Did we fry it or did it over heat or did we blow our mini cim?

Re: Quick Jaguar Question

Did it continuously blink or did it blink just a few times?

Re: Quick Jaguar Question

From http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spmu131a/spmu131a.pdf
Quote:
A slow flashing Red LED indicates that the MDL-BDC24 detected one of the following fault
conditions:
„ Power supply under-voltage
„ Over temperature
„ Over current
„ Limit switch activated in the current direction of motion
When a fault condition occurs, the motor shuts down and the LED indicates a fault state during the
fault condition and for 3 seconds after the fault cause is cleared (except for the limit switch fault, which is cleared instantly). A slow flashing Yellow LED indicates that the MDL-BDC24 is not
receiving a valid control signal.
So, it may have shutdown due to over temperature.

Toa Circuit is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Quick Jaguar Question

From a PDF on the Jaguar, a Slow Flashing Red light is "Voltage, Temperature, or Limit Switch fault condition"
The Jaguar overheated and sensed that this was the case, so it shut itself off to prevent damage.

Simply let it cool down, take off the sticker, and you're good to go.

Re: Quick Jaguar Question

Is your actual shooter mechanism experiencing a lot of force (stuck mechanisms, bearings, anything that could put excessive force on the motor)? Slow red blinking can mean an electrical fault (electricity being lost somewhere on the way through the Jaguar) or an over-current (too much electricity coming from the Jaguar). If your jaguar is blinking red every time you try to use your shooter something could be stuck or the jaguar could be broken (electricity not flowing through it correctly due to a problem created by overheating).

On a side note: Could someone please reinforce / verify my explanation of over-current and fault (I am not too experienced with electronics and would love if someone could give an excellent explanation of the two)

So we could have stalled our mini cim and blew that?

I doubt you blew the mini-cim. Most likely you just over-heated the Jag and the safety was enabled. Let the Jag cool, take that sticker off and test again.
