Unhappy Boredom

If you were sitting on a computer browsing through the chiefdelphi forums, and the rest of your team was working on a robot...what would you do?

On our team, if you are just browsing the web (and not for something FIRST related!) you will be sent home. Plain and simple. Contribute to the team, or you're gone for the night.

If I was browsing the forums and the rest of my team was working? I would go home.

My team has no internet access at our build location so we find other ways of not doing work.

Our team computer is password locked, and it came from our school. Pretty messed up considering they didn't give us the freakin password. All well, it's an old one anyways.

heh, there are only four real members, two programmers, and a few seniors who bother to show up only a few times a week.

So i wouldn't be able to get on the web without looking for motor specs or something.

Its funny, we had like 30 people attend the first meeting, but all the freshmen, sophmores stopped showing up. Then the seniors have senior project so they are never around. Its up to us juniors to do everything this year. We have almost as many engineers on our team as students. heh. Well, once we get the chassis finished im sure our attendance will jump cause people will want to drive it.

First, I would stop sitting on the computer and pull up a desk or a stool to sit on before somebody yelled at me.
No one is working on the robot yet, but my job on the team is basically just internet work. I would never complain...I am proud of my part of the team.

Sitting on a computer is fine. In fact, a stack of about 7 Dells is just about the right height for a nice chair. If you were sitting on a monitor, that would be different...

Harrison has a little shameless behaviour in the past
As long as the computers arent towers....other wise sitting on a stack of them can be a little iffy...lol

and I dont know about you American folks, but here in Canada we have these things with four legs, a seat, and a back...We call them chairs...

lol

....what was this thread about again?

Is it part of your job to browse the forums? I know we have some people assigned to look for interesting stuff on the Jive forums and CD (no, I'm not one of them), but they usually don't do this while the team is in a build session.

we have somewhere around 30 people on our team...so everyone can't be working on the robot at once...we actually have people who browse the forums looking for interesting facts, robot design tips, and also for scouting...
