Guess my valve!

i was hoping someone could tell me what the product number is for this valve, where i could find information for it or post the specs themselves.

as a follow up question, is it appropriate to control this valve with a spike?

Re: Guess my valve!

I think if it isn't labeled, it probably isn't legal (pressure rating)?

It probably wants to be controlled by a relay output on the CRIO, and shouldn't need a whole spike. Most industrial solenoids like that will want 24V, but it's hard to say until we figure out the part number.

Any view of the other side?

Re: Guess my valve!

Well it's a Festo but we will need to see the side with the part # to know if it's legal.

Re: Guess my valve!

Why didn't you post a photo of the other flat side?
The one with the rubbed off part #.
You have photos of one side several different times.

Re: Guess my valve!

That looks like it's a
VPLE18-M5H
4/2-1/4

They came in the Kits years ago, but that particular model is no longer manufactured.

Re: Guess my valve!

I'm not your robot inspector, so I'm not the person to ask.
Chief Delphi isn't an official source.
Without a part number you have difficulty proving that the solenoid meets the Robot rules.

There are other models with the same form factor that would not meet the pneumatics rules requirements, and I'd have to double check that valve's specs against the robot rules.

I'd have difficulty believing that isn't an R77 violation as well.

As to legality, it was asked on Q&A

Q419 Q. Are the older KoP Festo VPLE18-M5H valve legal for use? The specification from FESTO are obsolete, however these valves were legal in previous FRC seasons.
FRC0997 on 2013-02-04 | 4 Followers
A. To be legal for use, any pneumatic solenoid valve must meet the requirements of all ROBOT Rules, specifically, [R78]-C. Per Section 4.1, the Team is responsible for proving a part's legality during Inspection.

What's the R77 violation?

I* don't believe a solenoid with a rubbed-off label meets the definition of original, unaltered condition.

*Not an inspector or the GDC.
