BOM question for veteran teams

We are a 2nd year team (We are rookies to being vetrans you may say.) So here are my 2 questions:

1)When filling in the BOM we don't have to account for parts from the KOP. What about last years KOP. We used Cim motors both last year and this year, since they were originally KOP items are they $0 on the sheet?

2) Last year we bought a few Jaguars, and we reused them this year as well. They weren't KOP items. How do we account for these? Last year I think it was $90/ea, will it still be $90 on the BOM? Will it be $0 since we already paid for them in a previos year, or $90, or the current price of $60?

(For the record the entire robot is only ~$1000 so this is mostly important for us doing it right, not really worried about the total)

Re: BOM question for veteran teams

i don't think you would ever be wrong in putting down the price you actually paid for an item.

The rule states:
The BOM cost of each non-KOP item must be calculated based on the unit fair market value for the material and/or labor, except for labor provided by team members (including sponsor employees who are members of the team) and shipping.

I would think that the fair market value (presently $60) could also be used for those Jaguars...

For your CIMS.... you can mark them KOP if you got them in this year's kit. If you purchased and used more then each CIM beyond the number you received in the kit should be costed out at fair market value.. (currently something around $29, I believe...) I would think that you would not be able to count previous KOP items

EDIT: Because the CIMS were part of First Choice this year... with no limit on the number that could have been received that way, they would still be KOP and no cost...

Here is a QA ruling on that..

Q535
Q.Are the cost of items from previous years' kit of parts excluded from the BOM (ex. 8 slot cRIO),
and are quantities taken from this years' kit of parts or from previous years' (ex. we received 1
jaguar in this year's KOP, but 2 in last year's KOP)? To rephrase, are items in any KOP exempt from
cost?
A.Generally, no. However, the 2013 KOP includes 1 Jaguar and a voucher for 2 additional Jaguars
(or Victors, depending on the Team's preference). The KOP also includes a cRIO (so, even if a cRIO
wasn't delivered to a veteran team, it's still considered part of the KOP). For the purposes of FRC,
and [R11] particularly, there is no distinction between the 4-slot and 8-slot cRIOs.
Q509

Actually a question I would have is whether a KOP item (from First Choice) which a team could not get because they were out by the time they could order, is shown as KOP or costed...,,,
anyone have an answer for this? There is no answer for this in QA as of yet

Definition from the manual:

Re: BOM question for veteran teams

So does that then mean that an unlimited number of Talon's should be costed at $0, since they were on FIRST Choice? Some teams got ~12 of them, while many others got none.

Re: BOM question for veteran teams

I would have to say... after reading that statement... that any number of these items that could have been purchased... would qualify as KOP

If you are using Talons... I would think you could count them all as KOP by the definition above... there were specific numbers of Jaguars and Victors in the KOP...

By the way, since the CIM motor was also available on FIRST CHOICE
It too would be KOP

You beat me to editing my first post...:0)

Re: BOM question for veteran teams

How about the drivetrain PDV??

Definition from the manual:

Kit of Parts (KOP): the collection of items listed on any Kit of Parts Checklist, available in FIRSTŪ Choice, or obtained via a Product Donation Voucher (PDV)

http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr...blog-09-07-12: Veteran teams can opt to receive a Product Donation Voucher (PDV) from AndyMark instead....

So as a veteran team, all that we purchased from AndyMark with PDV is KOP??
