I didn't see it as an ad for Oreo at all... No more than the 2013 game is an ad for Frisbee. An Oreo ad would have given equal play to the cookie vs. creme lovers. The guy made a Rube Goldberg contraption to solve a problem that happened to involve a well known item. It was more about the contraption than the cookie...

It's professionally produced and posted on the Oreo Channel. It wouldn't surprise me if they commissioned this machine in some fashion. It's so very much an ad.

You are correct. I originally saw it as an embedded video on FB, so I didn't see any of the Oreo context (other than what's in the video itself.) When I posted it here, I shortened the URL to just the raw YouTube link which made it a lot more obvious.
