Re: 1114's Sneak Preview

Tease!

I would be pretty surprised if 1114 did not floor load. Also, for those interested you have a partial view of the top of their robot if you look in the reflection of the blue banner.

Good Luck this year
Regards, Bryan

Re: 1114's Sneak Preview

There is a gap in the rear bumper it looks like, positioned more on the shooter side of the robot. I would imagine a floor loader would fit there.

Re: 1114's Sneak Preview

What about the rear of the bumper on the right side of the picture? It steps up at the back end. Could there be a floor pickup from the corner? It could tie in with that gap at the back. Looking in the reflection there seems to be some rollers on the top. I could be mistaken however.

The coolest part of this picture for me?

The Chairman's Clock.

Can't wait to see the robot in action - that looks pretty neat, too.

You are correct, the "climber" (red plate attached to the lead screw) looks to rotate up then go out to grab on to the first level. All in all looks like it will be another force to be reckoned with.

Re: 1114's Sneak Preview

Underneath climber puts you in a great spot for that pyramid goal too.
It looks like some sort of storage "bin" instead of an indexed hopper and a BAG to rapid load the 3 wheeled linear shooter.
Can't find the floor loader, but I wouldn't bet there isn't one. Probably one of five bots that "can do everything"

Re: 1114's Sneak Preview

So, I may be crazy, but what if there just isn't a floor loader? It doesn't look like there is one, because there may well not be one. Sure, if they find a use for one, 1114 could come up with one and add it on in later competitions. But maybe, like many teams, they went without. I think we all expect 1114 to come out and do everything very well, but I would bet money that even without a floor-pickup, that bot is capable of many many wins. Maybe this time 1114 went for simple, lightweight and elegant, trading off an unneccesary feature in favor of allocating resources elsewhere. I look forward to seeing it in action

Re: 1114's Sneak Preview

If history is any indication, 1114 will have won most of their matches by the time autonomous is over.

That requires a floor loader. I'd be more willing to bet that they built an invisible floor loader than that they'd give up on autonomous bonus points.

Jason

Karthik himself has stressed the importance of autonomous this year, particularly floor pickup. He also expects, "a huge supply of discs on the floor." I would say floor pickup is a near certainty.
