strategy ideas

I tried doing it last year at the LA regional during the practice time and didn't get a very positive response from other teams.

I went around before the practice round and asked all the team who were going to be on the field with us during practice to actually play a match for last 2 mins. I thought that'll be great for all of us so that we can test our strategies. I would love to do that this year, but there is the glitch of autonomous mode.

What I would strongly recommend as a strategy person is to have one of their joystick buttons be able to turn on the autonomous mode. That might come in handy even during ur actual matches.

What does everyone think about simulating a match during the practice???

Another idea

Here is another strategy idea:

During the qualifying matches, try to make an alliance with your opponents- some kind of deal!!!

Think about it, it might help you and your opponent.

Autonomous mode practice

I think you could run an autonomous mode practice match in one of two ways. 1) use the switch box on the competition port to put the robot into "auton" mode. All teams would need to do this, or 2) to persuade the officials to run the field in "real competition" mode. Either way should work.

um bad idea, last year one of the parents on our team tried to do this unknowingly to the rest of the team until he came back
lets just say they didnt take to kindly to the offer and our robot was the target for the spearlike goal clamps...our bot stopped working during that match, not a good strategy idea

Making under the table deals is a BAD thing. Make sure all your team members know that. Not only is rigging matches poor sportsmanship, but it is also it also violates the spirit of having a contest of robots in the first place.

It can also lead to confusion if the deals happen without certain people involved. It can get really messy, really fast.

If you want to pratice autonomous just add a button/switch that activates it, just make sure you comment it out before the real matches.
