In the past, we used something similar. Only we had an Access database instead of Excel. We found that There were a lot of errors inherent in both the data logging, and the transfer to the database. We also found that the students really did not like to have to write all of the data down on paper (I was one of them at the time).

The app solves some of these problems. It minimizes error of data logging by making it easier, there is no error transferring that data to the database, and We've found that the students actually enjoy using it. I've had students ask me if they could be scouts, rather than groan when we tell them they need to. The app even gives the students access to some data analysis on the data they've collected themselves.

You are, however, on the right track.

Re: Team 836 Presents a new FRC Scouting App

thanks for the review! and i wish i could put my team to a completely digital set up but i have one massive problem with it .....all they would do is sit around play starcraft on their computers instead of scout ( i know this due to past years of experience) hence why the system is designed to only have one person inputting data into the computer.
