Missouri and Kansas rankings

I thought it'd be fun to join California and Texas and apply the FiM ranking system to Missouri and Kansas teams.

Only 1986 has gone to two events as of week 3, so Missouri looks a bit out of whack:

Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings

Heyyy, we're tied for 8th best robot in KC right now. I was going to offer help with this project, but it would appear that you don't need it anymore I like how it puts a comparison for all teams in your local area, even if you didn't compete with them.

Thanks for the (almost) offer; as it turned out it wasn't as hard as I thought. Thanks to Basel A's post in the California rankings thread I had an easy time getting all of the team and event info. The rest of it wasn't that time-consuming; obviously GKC & STL took the vast majority of the time once I set up the spreadsheet. The rest of the weeks won't be hard to update; we have fewer, remaining, competitions in those 3 combined than were in either STL or GKC last weekend.

I'm sure I made an error or eight, but it's probably pretty close.

Only one Missouri (1985) and one Kansas (3172) team competed in week 4; Queen City & Dallas respectively. So updating the data for this week was simple. Congratulations to 1985 for joining the MO & KS teams going to CMP; we'll see you there.

Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings

After week 5, we added 1987 (RCA at Alamo) to the list of Missouri & Kansas teams eligible for CMP. All teams have now competed in at least 1 event. In order to show a better comparison between teams that have gone to different numbers of events, I've included a maximum & average score. Only 1986 has been to 3 regionals; per FiM rules only the first 2 count so I've not included our data for Oklahoma.

Missouri:

Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings

Out of curiosity, any chance of seeing an updated ranking list after teams competed for a second time in week 6 at Razorback?

Thanks!

And Crossroads.

Did any Missouri/Kansas teams compete at other Week 6 events?

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

15 MO & KS teams competed at Crossroads and Razorback in week 6; 13 of those were in eliminations. Up Next! (3528) won EI at Razorback and RAVEN Robotics (1288) got a wild-card slot at Crossroads, adding 2 teams to the list of CMP-eligible teams.

Thanks for doing these rankings. I realize they're a lot of work and are time consuming, so for that, you are awesome.

Thanks. I messed up adding 1288's wildcard. Fixed

It was fun, and really wasn't that hard. Unfortunately, a side effect was pointing out to me just how far we are from being able to go to Districts. There's just too much space between the teams, and not enough of us.

80 teams in Kansas and Missouri should be enough. Assuming growth next year, you'd want 5 events. Looking at Where in the World is FIRST, you'd want 2 in the Kansas City area, 2 in the St Louis area and 1 somewhere in between (Maybe Jefferson City). There's be a lot of duplicates between the Kansas City events and the St Louis events, but some teams will want to travel, and provide mixing of the regions.

Despite BEST's presence in Wichita, seeing FIRST in Wichita would be really fun. We are the closest FRC team to Wichita.

Columbia or Lawrence would probably be a better bet than Jefferson City. That way you have MU and KU to offer up space and volunteers. Plus, college towns are fun.
