Removing mounting pin on cylinders

One of our mounting pins at the bottom of a pneumatic piston is stuck, and we were thinking of drilling it out.

Is this illegal by any chance?

Take a small punch and a hammer, they come out some what easy.

Re: Removing mounting pin on solenoids

It's legal if you're careful. You should be very careful that you don't damage the housing of the cylinder during the process.

On the other hand, you should probably have gotten some mounting brackets with the cylinder that mate up with the pin. If you can use those brackets to mount the cylinder, it's better to do so.

Re: Removing mounting pin on solenoids

Find a shop with a 3-ton arbor press. We cut a 1/2"x1/2" extrusion for bracing during the press and used a #10 bolt as the 'punch'. It should take less than a few seconds of anyone's time if you have the materials ahead of time.
