Its time to start thinking of nice patterns to put on your robot.

That metal is High Carbonite Steel. It's actually not that heavy.
When we put all four of these peices together they only weighed 16 lbs.
Our Chassis, with driving capibilities is going to be less than 30 lbs as well.

Well.. what is it?

Is it the bottom of the chassis? Or some special mechanism?

Place your attention entirely on my voice and try to ignore all the others. It is important to be able to focus on a single source of information while blocking out all the other things competing for your attention.

Like I said, It's one of our mechanisms, and if you look around some of the other threads you should be able to figure it out. We don't want to give it all away, because I beleive we are about 1 in three teams I've heard of so far that has a mechanism that can do what ours does (and I don't mean It's main function).
It's hard to explain, so just try to figure it out yourself...

I wish my team would let me do work as hack as that. Nice

Seriously, you can build a nicely functioning robot with absolutely no precision. It's totally possible.

Ooh... ohh... THEY'RE WINGS!!! Our team is doing something like that, but too much stress on the motors... soooooo we used pneumatics... if you already have a system they're less weight...
Guess what? our frame is 48 pounds driveable... it's made out of reduntant extruded aluminum, and supported a grand total of.... 600 POOOUUUUNNDDDSSSSS!!!! (4 team members) I liiiiiiiike. yes yes.... plated with lexan, it should be niiiiice. I like lots.
ah well, what have you.... good luck with your blocks of wings, I'm glad mine has more finess. and they doooo support 'bouts 200 pounds apiece... haw haw haw... for a third year team we're not doin' too badly.
hope our treads don't rip, though... (eep!)
Good luck to ya'!

Nope, sorry, this is not a picture of horizontal "wings" of any sort...
The 30 lbs does not inclue the controls/battery (about 13.5 lbs) so I guess we're really like around 45 or so...
We made our Chassis out of the aluminum drive components in the kit. Cut 'em down the center and got 4 C sections of aluminum. We're going to get it welded, but for now it's bolted together (very nicely so...)
And, we are (technically) a "Rookie" team, but some of our members (like me!) have done first before
