Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
Well that is just awesome!
Thanks for doing that. One other thing I found useful is to use Google Earth for a fly-through! |

Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
Thank you
We are planning on attending and no one on our team has ever been to championships. I tried searching and couldn't find anything regarding robot carts. Our cart is rather large and we are flying in from AZ. What do teams do for a robot cart? Do we need to locate a furniture dolly in the morning to add to the tool crate? |

Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
This is just awesome! Being originally from STL (and now living in NYC and not going to CMP :( ), I can tell you a few things about this guide:
First, the photo at the bottom of page 3 is the old Busch Stadium, not the new one :D St. Louisans will take great offense :) (just kidding) You don't extol the virtues of Ted Drewes, and just list it as something that people might be interested in :). That's one thing I really miss about STL :D. Best frozen custard you'll ever have, and make sure to get a concrete and watch them turn it upside down for you. Also, whereever you go in STL, make sure you get a local delicacy - toasted ravioli. Best food invention ever, invented in STL and not found anywhere else (if you do, it's not done right.....I've had it several places in NYC and it's just not the same). I have no useful information about the CMP event itself, sadly :) |

Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
Actually, that is Turner Field in the photo. Note the Atlanta skyline in the back ground. He is right about Ted Drew's and toasted ravioli!

Quote:
Perhaps our team could bring a robot cart for you. It would actually benefit us to have it for load-in/out, and loan it to you during the competition. PM me if interested. |

Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
Not Turner field, Turner field has blue seats and the outside of the stadium is green, but the skyline looks like Atlanta's.

Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
The stadium in the picture is the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. The Milwaukee Braves moved to Atlanta in 1966, and played there. The (NFL) Falcons and (MLB) Braves both played there until 1991. After that the Falcons moved to the Georgia Dome. The Braves moved to Turner Field for the 1997 season after the 1996 Summer Olympics were over, which Turner Field was originally built for. Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was demolished in 1997.

Re: A guide for teams coming to the Championship
For those of you interested. I would also add that tours of Busch Stadium are only $10 a person which includes a trip on the field, through the dugout(you might just get to meet some cool players), through all the all-inclusive clubs, and (my favorite part) through the press box. Its a neat tour that takes around 45 min to complete. Some other neat St. Louis tours include the national bowling HOF, the Arch of course, and the AB factory for traveling parents that want to get away. I would recommend everyone touring through the AB factory(it's free), but some schools and clubs might be against it. It really does show a cool scientific process though.
