Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
My favorite part of this event was getting to see one of my best friends win their first event, and captain their alliance. Way to go 2489, 3189, and 701!

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
Had a blast at Sacramento this year!
We're hoping for better luck at SVR in two weeks. Lesson learned: You may have the best robot, but it takes an alliance to win a regional! Huge congrats to the three winning teams, you had a stacked alliance. I called you guys going far (also, how the heck was 701 still available in the 2nd round???) Also, to the #8 Seeded Alliance, you had an incredible strategy! You pretty much had a lock on 104 points every match with 54 in Auto and 50 in Climb. That's hard to come back from, way to go! For those interested, this is what we were hoping finals would look like: http://www.thebluealliance.com/match/2013casa_qm82 See you all next year! -Mike |

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
This past regional has been the best regional ever
First off, congrats to our head mentor Mark Edelman (Mr. E) for winning Woodie Flowers award. We would like to thank everyone who gave us input on our essay and helped make it better. It was really awesome to see Mr. E finally win the award, he's been deserving of it for quite a bit now. Congrats to 1868 for another RCA! Definitely well deserved. A huge thanks to our alliance members 3189 and 701 for giving us a great experience. It was our teams first time being in eliminations at a Regional, and the combined experience from both 701 and 3189 really helped. Both 3189 and 701 were near the top of our pick list, so I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to pick up both teams. Quote:

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
It was a fun and well run regional that I and my teammates on 399 won't soon forget.
Thanks to our alliance partners for eliminations, teams 1868 Space Cookies and 1388 Eagle Robotics. It was a great run during eliminations and we could not be more thrilled with how well we executed the strategy. 1868 and 1388 are two very professional teams and we wish both teams the best of luck at SVR. 1868's smooth driving and 1388's level 3 climb should be great assets to any alliance. Thanks to 1662 Raptor Force Engineering, 1678 Citrus Circuits, and 3256 WarriorBorgs for a very exciting set of quarterfinal matches. All 3 of you had great robots and it was probably the most thrilling set of matches I've ever been involved in. Good luck to everyone else at future competitions, it was great to work with/against you all. Inland Empire, here we come. |

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
Congratulations to the green alliance for a well-deserved win at the Sacramento Regional this year. The alliance of 2489, 701 and 3189 had a great balance of firepower and defensive ability but you won the regional with teamwork and consistency.
I was personally very excited to see Circuit Breakers (our second pick for last year's regional win and a huge asset to the alliance) performing at such a high level. Your team has come a long way from last year. Work on getting that drive-train a little faster and you will be a serious threat at nationals. I was also ecstatic to see team 701 win their first regional. It does not seem that long ago that Doug Green and team 701 ushered our team into the FIRST program. They were the epitome of Gracious Professionalism and helped us build our robot that first year when we were struggling to even put together a drive train. Since that time, our team has grown and achieved success beyond what I had ever imagined but we are eternally grateful to Doug and his team for giving us the inspiration and this win has been a long time coming for them. Citrus Circuits would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the organizers of this year's event. We had a blast and it was a major roller-coaster for us. In case anyone is interested in our story, here is a quick re-cap of what happened with our team. On Thursday, our new shooter ( redesigned from Madera) was not performing the way it had in the shop. By the end of the day, we had decided that the custom gearbox was geared too low and did not provide the necessary speed for a good shot. Two of our team members built a new gearbox overnight (they had it finished by around 3:00 a.m.). We did not have enough time to mount the gearbox Friday morning so we waited until there was a good hour an a half between matches which happened between our 4th and 5th matches. We did not have time to test it in the pit before our 5th match so we went out on the field anyway. Unfortunately the motors had been wired in opposition so the shooter didn't work in that match either. A quick trip to the practice field and we had it working like a charm so finally in our 6th match we were shooting well. Things continued to go well for us throughout the remaining qualification matches and it was especially exciting to team up with 1662 in match 82 and post the high score of 162. We were thrilled to be selected by 1662 for the finals but, unfortunately, things did not continue to go well for us. Right before our first quarter-final match, we decided to grease the shooter gearbox. This caused our shooter to run slower and resulted in missing all of our autonomous shots. Then, in the second quarter-final, an ethernet cable (left on the robot after removing our camera) became lodged in the drivetrain and prevented us from driving effectively. We were disappointed that we couldn't support 1662 as we would have liked but that's the way it goes sometimes. We learn from our mistakes. Again, thanks to all the participants in this year's Sacramento regional. 1678 had a blast and we are very excited about nationals. |

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
We had the Green Alliance as the 2nd strongest on paper, so we weren't surprised to see them win it. Some great pics from the #6 slot.

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional
I know you're looking for robot pictures, and this album doesn't have every robot, but it has quite a few of them including almost all of those that made it into eliminations.
