I’d like to recognize 4579 for not only being the highest rookie seed, but for seeding 5th overall. I watched this robot play and didn’t get a chance to see it in person until much later. I was shocked to hear that this was their first year and that nobody on their team had previous FRC experience. I’m ecstatic that they were wildcarded, because they will give teams in Saint Louis a run for their money!

4579 was, indeed awesome... but the story is actually better than you describe.

They did have one member with previous FRC experience. He was a Dean's List recipient at an East Coast regional last year. When he moved to Seattle he did exactly what you'd expect from a Dean's List recipient.

I don't know if people can be "renominated" for a championship Dean's List award, but if it can be done... it should be. No disrespect to the other awesome achivements that took place last weekend but that was the story I'll be remembering for a long time to come.
